Overview
This article provides guidance on how to enable and manage Challenge Ranking within an advocacy platform, allowing for control over the order in which challenges are presented to advocates. It covers ranking within channels, the Challenges Tab, and the Homepage Carousel.
Information
Understanding how to effectively order challenges can enhance user engagement by prioritizing certain challenges and ensuring a strategic flow of user activity.
Note: In the Challenges Tab, Challenges will always be shown after all Channels.
An example of the Challenges tab with ranked/unranked Channels as well as ranked/unranked Challenges would look like this:
Ranked Challenges will be shown first to Advocates, followed by any unranked Challenges.
By default, featured Challenges will have a rank of 1, and all other Challenges will have a rank of N/A. Challenges without a rank will be shown to Advocates in order of the creation date, with the most recently created Challenge being shown first.
Assigning Ranks to Challenges
To assign a Challenge a rank:
- From the Edit Challenge page, click the rank dropdown.
- Choose a number from 1-100.
- Click Save.
Multiple Challenges can be assigned the same rank. For example, if two or more Challenges have the same rank, they will be ordered by creation date (most recently created Challenge is shown before the other to the Advocate). There is no need to rank Challenges consecutively.
To preview the order Advocates see Challenges in, change the sort order of Challenges on the Challenges tab to Rank. The targeting filters on the sidebar can be changed to preview how Challenges look to a certain group, or how Challenges look within a Channel.
When previewing the order of Challenges, remember that the filters on the sidebar help visualize how Challenges look to a certain group but do not account for other targeting rules that you may have set, such as previous challenge completion behaviour.
Note: When a Challenge expires, it will retain its rank until it is removed by an Admin or archived. Archived and expired Challenges will automatically have its rank changed to N/A.
Challenge Suggester
If the challenge suggester/ challenge recommendations feature is enabled, once the advocate completes a challenge, they will be presented with suggestions for other challenges.
The Challenge Suggester displays two challenges of the same type (challenge type).
If there aren’t enough challenges of the same type to display, it shows the most “popular” challenges (available challenges with the most number of activities).
The above is regardless of the channel.
