Overview
Users may intermittently report that the Influitive Daily Point/Login Bonus “isn’t adding points,” the claim button is disabled/greyed out, and/or “I still can’t select the 7-day bonus.”
This can occur due to a Login Bonus behavior change: the bonus can be claimed only once per UTC calendar day and resets at 12:00AM UTC. Because the reset is UTC-based (not local time), the bonus can appear unavailable during local morning/afternoon even when points were successfully awarded earlier in the UTC day.
Solution
Symptoms
- Points do not appear to add after clicking the Login Bonus/Daily Points bonus.
- The claim button appears disabled/greyed out.
- Users may report: “I still can’t select the 7-day bonus.”
- Clearing cache/cookies may appear to help only temporarily.
Cause (expected behavior)
The Login Bonus claim is restricted to 1 claim per UTC calendar day:
- UTC claim window: 12:00AM–11:59PM UTC
- Reset time: 12:00AM UTC (convert this to your local time zone)
Because the reset is based on UTC, users outside UTC may be able to claim again during their local evening (after the UTC day boundary). That successful claim then prevents another claim during the next local morning/afternoon, making the button appear greyed out and creating the impression that points are not awarding.
No platform defect is necessarily present when the advocate feed/activity confirms the claim already occurred within the current UTC day.
How to confirm this is the cause (investigation steps)
- Identify an affected advocate (any impacted user report).
- In Influitive, review the advocate’s feed/activity for the Login Bonus claim event.
- Record the claim timestamp and convert it to UTC (or convert 12:00AM UTC into your local time).
- Confirm whether the user already claimed within the current UTC day window (12:00AM–11:59PM UTC).
- If yes: the disabled/greyed-out button is expected until the next UTC reset.
Recommended customer actions (mitigation)
-
Communicate the claim window clearly
- The Login Bonus can be claimed once per UTC day, not once per local calendar day.
-
Set expectations for availability
- The next claim becomes available only after the next 12:00AM UTC reset.
- Publish a simple local-time translation (for example: “Resets at <local_reset_time> in <your_time_zone>”).
-
If a user reports “no points awarded,” verify via feed/activity
- If the feed shows the claim, points were awarded and the user is within the UTC lockout window.
Validation (confirming the behavior is understood and working as expected)
- Choose a user who reported the issue and confirm their feed shows the last successful Login Bonus claim.
- After the next 12:00AM UTC reset passes, confirm the claim button becomes available and a new claim can be made.
Frequently Asked Questions
- 1. How do I know if this is the same issue?
- If users say the bonus “isn’t adding points,” the button is “greyed out,” or they “can’t select the 7-day bonus,” and it happens intermittently, check whether they already claimed the Login Bonus within the current UTC day (12:00AM–11:59PM UTC).
- 2. Why did clearing cache/cookies seem to help for a day?
- Clearing cache/cookies may coincide with the UTC reset timing, making it seem like the fix worked. The underlying behavior is governed by the once-per-UTC-day restriction, so the button can still be disabled again until the next 12:00AM UTC reset.
- 3. What local time does the Login Bonus reset?
- It resets at 12:00AM UTC. Convert 12:00AM UTC to your local time zone (for example, during standard time it can be 5:00PM Mountain Time). The exact local time depends on your time zone and daylight savings.
- 4. What should I do if the advocate feed shows no claim, but the button is still disabled?
- Re-check the UTC day window and ensure you’re viewing the correct bonus/challenge activity. If there is truly no claim recorded for the current UTC day and the button remains disabled past the expected local reset time, capture timestamps and affected user examples and request further investigation.
